Using Multiple Vendor's ORBs with Name Services
About two years ago, I started working with CORBA in Java. I attempted a few times to implement a client on the C++ side, however, I always ran into some obstacle, and Google was surprisingly not usually helpful.
In my first CORBA-related article, I discuss the interoperability of Using Multiple Vendor's ORBs with Name Services. The article starts by implementing the popular IOR-file based client and server, and then proceeds to add Name Service support, and completes with a treatment of Multicasting for Name Servers.
This initial article focuses on Mico, TAO, and Java IDL (the default implementation from Sun's JDK 1.4.2). I may add others in the future.
Enjoy, and I hope it helps.
