Dream of You

by Eric Y. Theriault

I closed my eyes last night,
And as the darkness cleared,
slowly I saw her faintly;
her long beautiful hair,
her wonderful smile,
and soon her sparkling eyes.
My heart pounding,
and my thoughts racing,
Closer than she were ever before,
we wandered the beachside,
hand in hand.
and she said words,
words I thought I'd never,
hear again.

Soon we stopped;
and she was in my arms,
our eyes focused on the other,
I know that she knew,
the words I was about to state,
but little did I know,
how she was to react,
and as I asked her,
she needed not respond,
as I clearly understood then,
that she felt as I.
